Ilerno is an all-in-one web-based school management system that simplifies administration for
educational institutions. It allows schools to manage staff, teachers, students, billing,
enrolments, certificates, communication, and attendance efficiently. Our task was to enhance its flexibility, build custom modules for email templates and certificate generation, and improve real-time parent-teacher-student communication.

• School staff and admins couldn’t edit or manage email templates dynamically. Every minor change required developer support, slowing communication.
• Emails lacked personalization due to the absence of dynamic fields (like student name, course, date).
• The system lacked a way to generate downloadable certificates, especially with varying layouts like portrait and landscape.
• Communication between school and parents was scattered across platforms without real-time updates or personalization.
• Role-based control over who could manage or use certain features was missing.

• Designing a permission-based dynamic email system, where different users can create, edit, and manage templates using tokens (e.g. {{student_name}}) securely.
• Building a certificate generation system that supports editable templates, dynamic fields, portrait/landscape layouts, and PDF exports.
• Ensuring templates and certificates remain consistent and visually accurate across browsers and print formats.
• Implementing a real-time notification mechanism that sends personalized updates to parents and students.
• Keeping the platform user-friendly yet powerful, with flexible backend configuration options.

• Developed a dynamic email template editor using token-based logic and WYSIWYG editors, with full role-based access control. Templates could be previewed live and assigned per module.
• Built a certificate generator module with layout selection (portrait or landscape), dynamic field insertion, and PDF export functionality.
• Implemented a notification engine that pushes messages to students and parents in real time, including event reminders, progress reports, and more.
• Integrated role management to control who can send emails, modify templates, or generate certificates.
• Delivered a seamless and secure admin interface tailored for school staff with a clean UX and reduced learning curve.
